Catalunya, AutomotiveMagz - Fantastic! Mark Webber managed to win the F1 Spanish Grand Prix, Sunday (05/09/2010). The Red Bull team racer had dominated the race over 66 laps at the Catalunya circuit, without being able to be passed by the opponents. With his first victory, he has collected a total 53 points.

At the start, the Australian racer has done it perfectly. Through the first turn, he managed to pass his team mate. Since then he can go without being approached by Lewis Hamilton. Webber recorded at least eight times of the fastest record.

Bad luck for Lewis Hamilton. He broke his tire on 65th lap. Consequently when entered the third turn the car out of control and crashed.

Fortune for Fernando Alonso. Hamilton's accident made him in second position. Alonso races consistently, although he had fought hard but he was not supported by good performance car.

Third place has taken by Webber teammate, Sebastian Vettel. Bad start made the German racer in the third. Various efforts have been made, including to set the fuel consumption to a bit more. Then, during the second pitstop, changed the tire to soft compound, but he still could not pursue Alonso.

Check The Car Before Driving

AutomotiveMagz, Automotips – Even though the car was only a year old, there's nothing wrong to inspect the car condition before driving, especially if the car already been used for two to three years. Sometime just because of little things that escape from our observation, a big problem actually appears.

For example, engine oil or battery water. If it’s dried or empty, it can be fatal. Well, here are parts of a vehicle that needs to be checked before you hit the road.
  • Engine oil. Pull the dipstick from the hole, and then rub the tip of the measuring marks (indicators). Then, insert the dipstick and pull it back again. Make sure the oil height is in the safe limit (more than half of the measuring mark).
  • Wiper water. Check wiper water in its tube. Wiper is very useful for cleaning glass especially in summer
  • Radiator water. For new cars, not need to recharge too often, except for the reserve tube. If it was already filled, but kept needed to refilled, immediately take it to mechanic because there could be leakage.
  • Air filter. Do this if you have some spare time because it needs some time to get it done. To clean it, blow it with compressor. .
  • Engine compartment. Observe the most important parts, check if there is a leakage, whether the battery head is loose, the cables, etc.
  • Tire pressure. Make sure air pressure is still in accordance with standard recommendations. Use a pressure gauge. If it was under the standard pressure, then immediately fill the tire when it’s cold.
  • Lights. Especially for the brake and the turn sign, make sure all that parts work well. After that, check your dimmer, small lights, and headlights

Ferrari Supports Turbo Plan

CHINA, AutomotiveMagz - Federation Internationale d'Automobile (FIA) plans to implement the turbo back at the upcoming 2013. Mercedes-Benz manufacturer who have the Mercedes team in F1 GP support the idea, including Ferrari, but there are additional requirements.

Ferrari supports the plan, but it must be followed by fuel efficiency. Without it, that would be nonsense, said Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa at the Beijing Auto Show event yesterday, which quoted by autoevolution.com.

Some rumors circulating in recent days about F1 is preparing to move to the 1500 cc engine that has 670 HP turbo-powered. It will use the gasoline direct injection (GDI) concept for fuel efficiency. Currently, F1 uses 2400 cc normal engine with V8 configuration, minimum weight of 95 kg and maximum engine speed 18 000 rpm.

Ferrari has a good reason to be very supportive of these changes. They finished as the champion when turbo were used in 1982.

Norbert Haug, Mercedes Motorsport Director, is the first one who heard about the F1 technology development issue on the 2013. "Everything that is interesting from the F1 will spread rapidly. We had discussed about the initiative fund, but F1 needs to race technically," said Haug.

5 Tools Auto Owner Needs

Automobiles are sizeable investments. As a car becomes older, its maintenance becomes increasingly important. There are many tools that every auto owner should have. Auto shops can sometimes charge exurbanite amounts for a simple fix that could have been done at home for much cheaper. Having the proper tools and knowledge will allow any auto owner to save money, learn more about their automobile, and maintain their car.

1. Every auto owner should have a jack and jack stands. When working on a car, more often than not, the car must be elevated. Simple procedures like rotating tires can be done at home with the help of a Jack. Additionally, all car owners should have a jack in their car with them wherever they go. In the unfortunate event of a flat tire, having a jack and a spare tire can lead to a simple tire replacement. In a garage, having a powerful jack and strong jack stands makes it possible for an auto owner to reach every point underneath the car and thus solve problems more efficiently.

2. One of the most important car maintenance practices is the oil change. To maintain an automobile, the oil should be changed once every 3,000 miles. Quintessential to a successful oil change is having an Oil Wrench that takes the oil filter off and allows the oil to be changed expediently. Without an oil wrench, an auto owner may be forced to take their car to an auto shop and overpay for a simple oil change.

3. Often when dealing with parts of the engine, or the hard-to-reach spots under the hood, proper tools are required. A 3/8-inch Socket Set can allow an automobile owner to loosen and subsequently tighten a wide variety of bolts. Different extensions allow the auto owner to obtain the best angles for torque and therefore make auto jobs quite a bit easier.

4. When changing oil, having a funnel, some rags, and a bucket is very helpful. Once again, the oil change is one of the most important maintenances for a car, and it can be done easily by anyone. However, many people do not have the proper tools or knowledge for a successful oil change. Having a funnel can also be useful when refilling any other fluids in one’s car. The funnel serves to make sure that fluids do not get over filled, which can lead to significant problems.

5. Finally, every auto owner should have a pair of solid vice grips. Some times a part will just not come loose. Other times, a car part may not seem to be tight enough despite one’s best efforts. Vice grips can hold a wide variety of car parts and allow the user to obtain more leverage for either tightening or loosening a part. When encountering a part that will simply not come loose, many auto owners will give up and take their car to a shop. Having vice grips can help one to avoid this problem.

Unfortunately, there is no car in existence that doesn’t require constant maintenance. However, with the right tools, anyone can fix minor problems and maintain his or her automobile without the assistance of an auto mechanic. The right tools can lead to a longer last vehicle, and large cost savings.

Replace Battery by Yourself

Automotivers - Never underestimate the battery replacement. It may looks so simple, just relieving the bind on both battery polar by loosening the bolt. It is possible, error or carelessness happens when performing the replacement. Which could damaging the electrical systems and even electronic control unit (ECU).

Follow these steps to replace the battery.
1. Make sure the ignition key is in "OFF" positioned or uprooted. After that, let it for a moment to ensure electrical components really dead. To make sure the ECU is not active in order to avoid hangs or damage to the ECU. If the ignition is "ON", there is still an electric current and when the battery cable is revoked may potentially cause a spark.

2. To be safe, disconnect the negative cable first, and then the positive. This is to prevent sparks. When installing the cable again (after a new battery replacement), do the opposite. So, first connect the plus cable then the negative.

3. When installing a new battery, make sure the size and capacity is the same with the standard. Then pay attention to the position of poles. Trivial, but potentially damaging electrical components and the ECU if you put them wrong.

4. Some cars need to reset their ECU after replacing the battery. Especially for European-made cars.

5. Replace the battery as soon as possible when its conditions can not be helped. Like its cell had been burned or fused.

Save Money by Shorter Warm Up

Automotiverz - With technological developments, starting the engine in cold conditions became easier. No more choke because mechanisms such as “choke” do not exist anymore. Choke only exist on old engines or old cars. Also do not need to put a feet on the accelerator when going to start the engine.

Sit behind the wheel. Rotate the ignition key to "start" position (or press the button). Normal machines should immediately start running.

If it is turned on from cold conditions -in the morning- rpm above 1000 rpm and for smaller machines, such as 1300 cc, between 1100 and 1200 rpm. After that, a few tens of seconds later, down by itself into normal stationary conditions (slow), below 1000 rpm.

There are still heating time for the machine, but it became shorter. Maximum one minute long. After that, the vehicle could run. Even if the round has not been returned to a stationary position, the car can run.

Injection. That's the greatness of today's machines. Fuel needs are no longer being sucked, but injected. Heating time and engine speed is controlled by computer that receives the information from many sensors.

Computer controls the machine work. If the engine temperature is not too cold, no need to warm it up for long. In this way, besides making fuel consumption more efficient on the machine also reduces environmental pollution.

In the current technology of fuel injection, direct gasoline is sprayed into the combustion chamber. That makes warming up faster!

Oil factor. Oil also determines the needed time to warming up the machine. Good quality oil with low viscosity, for example already in the energy conserving category, makes the engine easier to start, because the resistance from the oil is lower.

However, if the oil is thick with high viscosity, of course, needed greater power to resist it. This also affects the time needed to warming up the machine.

So, in the morning, do not let the engine stationary in a long time. Also, do not press the accelerator to speed up the engine. That the same as throwing money and participating in the environment pollution.

Read the manual if you have doubts. Take advantage of the latest technology!
